Big Hill Uranium Mining
After going under the highway on your way up to Silver Reef, Big Hill, called Butt (Bute) Hill in the late 1800's, is on your left. Several mining structures and shafts from the 1950's are still visible as you drive by. Rich uranium deposits were mined from Big Hill and then processed in the mill behind the Museum.

Big Hill is on on private land. When accessing these sites, please be respectful of the owners rights. Obey any signs, do not try to enter fenced in areas, do not damage or deface structures, do not take anything that you may find,  or leave garbage / litter behind. Entry is at your own risk, and the owner is not responsible for your safety, or harm inflicted by others or the property itself.
